Any fellows passing through Berlin, Germany this month should stop in to see the photography exhibition “Personally Political - Contemporary Sensation” at Kunsthaus Tacheles. Lia Chavez ’07 has some photographic work in the exhibition.
This fall, Reena Goldthree ‘07 will be enjoying the New England fall colors as the Thurgood Marshall Dissertation Fellow at Dartmouth College. This past academic year, Reena has been in Trinidad and Tobago on a Fulbright grant and recently gave a lecture at the Institute for Gender and Development Studies at the University of the West Indies-St. Augustine.
Nathan Grills '07 is working as a public health fellow for the department of Health in Melbourne, Australia. He and his wife Claire finish their specialist training this year (Claire in Dermatology, Nathan in Public Health) and then hope to move to India to serve with a network of Christian community health programs.

Things have been swinging in NYC. Greg King ‘01’s documentary film, “Our House” was one of 10 projects accepted to the Independent Filmmaker Project’s lab workshop in April. The week-long forum provides advice/instruction from experts in the film industry on completing and marketing feature films. On a more musical note, Bridget Kibby ‘01 played her Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall) debut in April, under the auspices of Concert Artists Guild. She has been plucking pieces all over the world including the New York premier of Elliott Carter's "Mosaic", a piece which heavily spotlights the harp, in Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall, the American Premier of Sebastian Currier's "Broken Minuets" with Symphony in C in Philadelphia's Kimmel Center and Osvaldo Golijov's "Ayre with Dawn Upshaw" in the UK! Bridget will perform with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's Young Artist program the next three seasons while she teaches at Bard Conservatory, Juilliard School Pre-College program, New York University, and Vassar College.
Astri Swendsrud ’07 is presenting "While It Lasted," a solo exhibition of
drawings and sculpture, featured by The Suburban gallery as part of the exhibition "Artists Run Chicago" at the Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL. The exhibition will be on view June 15-21.
Hannah Swift '08 is getting married this summer (on July 18th) to Onsi Fakhouri, after which she will be Hannah Fakhouri, at their church in Berkeley: First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley.
As of February 2009, David Tien ‘04 is Dr. Tien. He was awarded his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Dr. Tien is currently an Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy at the National University of Singapore.
Sara Vanderhaagen ‘07 had her first article published in the Winter 2008 issue of the journal Rhetoric and Public Affairs. The article was entitled, "Renewing Tradition in Community: George W. Bush, Calvin College, and the Controversy over Identity."
